Connecting Your Domain
Generating PURLs with your own custom domain is a great way of ensuring strong brand alignment. The following is a guide to connecting your custom domain to Purlem to be used with your PURL campaigns.
What You’ll Need:
- A domain that you own
- Access to your domain's DNS
- An Purlem account with a paid subscription
To add a new domain, go to your Dashboard > Account Dropdown > Domains. Select the + Add Domain button, and choose the New Domain tab.
If you already have a website on your domain (www.yoursite.com), you'll need to use a subdomain (promo.yoursite.com). Once you have the domain picked out, enter it in the New Domain input field.
Cname Setup
After you add your new domain, the status will likely be Looking for CNAME. So the next step will be to point the Domain's CNAME record to Purlem. To do so, follow the steps below:
- Login to your domain provider and navigate to the DNS settings.
- Create a record with the following:
Type: CNAME
Name: www (or the subdomain you would like to use)
Value: purlpage.com
Once the domain has been pointed, the status will be changed to Active, and the domain will be made available to be used with your Purlem campaigns.
Still having trouble?
The most common reason for this is that your host is just taking a while to update your new CNAME. Assuming your CNAME is setup correctly (see point 2 below), give it a couple of hours and it should start working.
Double-check that your CNAME is pointing to purlpage.com and triple-check for any spelling mistakes.
If your CNAME looks right, and you have waited a couple of hours for it to update, please email support and include a screenshot of your host's CNAME control panel so that we can get you up and running as quickly as possible.
